Sugar Balls
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
¼ cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp water
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
Colored sugar (red or green for Christmas)
Thoroughly cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. Stir in water. Add flour and mix well. Stir in nuts. Shape into 1” balls and roll in colored sugar. Bake 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheet in slow oven (300 degrees) for 20 minutes or till firm to the touch. Cool thoroughly before removing from pan.
Makes 3 ½ to 4 dozen.
Note: Can use walnuts instead of pecans. Also, may need 1 or 2 more minutes in oven.
